Memory Lane (12.28.10)

This Sunday is our 7 year wedding anniversary. The only itch I've got 7 years into marriage is the itch to make more beautiful babies with his turtle green eyes and apple cheeks and big, golden laugh.

(Plus, hot DAMN was I skinny back then. Sighs.)

Christmas (12.25.10)

This picture makes me think of two rich little blonde children on a farm in Connecticut. And I love it. This horse lives in the neighborhood near my in laws, and my kids love to go for walks over there and stare up up up.

Christmas Eve Day (12.24.10)

The high is projected to be 70 tomorrow. It doesn't feel like Christmas out there, under the sun. But it sure feels like Christmas right here, in these bright eyes and unfurling smiles.

May YOUR days be merry and bright, and your heart be light with love this Christmas.

Polar Express (12.23.10)

Amidst a pile of pillows and blankets, we four snuggled and giggled and ate popcorn and drank hot chocolate (secret recipe: 2/3 milk:1/3 water, handful each of white and milk chocolate Ghiradelli chips, hot chocolate powder, and a splash of peppermint mocha coffee creamer). Luca's favorite part: trying to guess which of the gifts in the big bag might be hers. Rohan's favorite part: jumping off the couch onto Daddy.

Bacon (12.22.10)

I don't eat it, but I sure do love to smell it.

Luckily I have this little kitchen helper to eat my share.
(Shot this in manual, not auto. It's high time I got out of my comfort zone.)

Editing (12.20.10).

I am a hobby photographer, not a professional, and so despite the fact I know I'd love it, I can't justify the cost of editing software. I CAN justify a free copy of a photo editing program that my work had on hand which had never been used. Et voila! Microsoft Digital Image Pro.

This should be fun!

Straight out of the camera.

All out editing, upping contrast, changing lighting, adjusting shadows and midtones, etc. This is TOO much!
Using the program's auto correct features.
Playing with color overlays. I added some color to their eyes and cheeks, and using the 'blemish' editing feature to soften shadows on Luca's face and remove Rohan's Masto site on his forearm (it looks SO weird to me for that to be gone!) and some red splotchiness on his cheeks and chin.

I fully suck at this program thus far, but I think with time I'll get much better. So excited to play around with my pictures!
